Governor Jerry Brown
In the Fall of 2016, you promised the voters of California that if they would vote for Proposition 57, which allowed the early release of “non-violent criminals” from prison, that it would NOT include sex offenders. The people of California trusted you and Proposition 57 passed with 64% approval.
Recently, an ANONYMOUS IMPRISONED SEX OFFENDER joined with the Alliance for Constitutional Sex Offense Laws and filed a lawsuit against the State of California to re-write the intent of California voters. Sacramento County Superior Court Judge Allen Sumner even stated, “If the voters had intended to exclude all registered sex offenders from early parole consideration under Proposition 57, they presumably would have said so."
Governor Brown, the people of California took YOU at your word. They believed you when you said, “trust me no sex offenders will be released."
Sex crimes are some of the most egregious crimes on earth. Sexual exploitation affects the victims (and their families) for the rest of their lives. Many victims of sex offenses have risked their lives and the safety of themselves and their loved ones to testify against their sex offenders. With this ruling, the very predator they testified against is about to be released right back to their neighborhood. And, with Judge Sumners' ruling, NO VICTIM WILL BE SAFE!
“We the people" of California are asking you to KEEP YOUR WORD. There should be NO EARLY RELEASE OF ANY SEX OFFENDER in the State of California. We are also asking you to consider removing Judge Allan Sumner from the bench. Please help us keep our communities safe!
